For events and festivals
The weekend does not end on Monday.
Search a festival on social media and four years blur into one. Every photo is loose, nothing is where it happened, and the person who was standing next to you has a better version you will never see.
Works for nine birders at a lake on Saturday as well as for a hundred thousand people in a field.
Before, during, after
How does a festival use Posty Crumbs?
An event is a layer over a place in time. It gathers before the gates open and it keeps going once everyone has gone home.
Before: people arrive knowing things
The stage times, the entrance that is never busy, where to leave a bag, what is worth walking to. Left at the spots they apply to instead of buried in a thread.
During: everyone's angle, in one place
Photos, clips and live streams collect at the point they were taken. Somebody at the back sees what the front row saw, and an artist can leave something backstage that only the people there will find.
After: the year becomes a place
When it ends it does not scatter. The whole weekend stays as an archive of that site in that year, and you can switch years and watch the same field change.
A route through the grounds
Someone's path across the site, in order, with what they found at each stop. New arrivals follow it instead of wandering.
Things only there, only then
Unlocks that open at a place and a time. A set that is only revealed to people standing at that stage, a hunt that runs across the whole site.
Your group, inside the crowd
A circle for the people you came with — the meeting point, the tent, the thing you will all forget by Sunday.
Already on the map
What does an event look like today?
Coachella Valley has a public profile on Posty Crumbs with the art from the site on it — including Etherea, the fifty-four-foot wire mesh palace that debuted in 2018 and was moved to its current spot a year later. That is the shape of it: a place, a year, a story, kept.
The invitation becomes the experience. The experience becomes the archive. And the archive becomes part of the place.
Questions
What an organiser asks.
Does this only work for big festivals?
No. An event is any gathering at a place — nine birders at a lake on a Saturday morning works exactly the same way, and their sightings become part of the history of that lake.
Do attendees need to do anything?
Only install the free app. What they capture during the weekend can join the event, and what they find was left by people who were there before them.
What happens to it after the event?
It stays as the archive of that site in that year. Run it again next year and people can switch between them and see what changed.
Can we control what appears under our event?
You control everything you publish, and anything can be reported and reviewed. The open map stays open, which is what makes the archive worth reading.
What does it cost?
Nothing to start. Drop crumbs at your site with the free app. For a larger activation, email hello@postycrumbs.com.
Start before the gates open.
Drop the ten things people always ask about at the places they apply to. That alone changes someone's first hour.
